PCI Overview

In order to help protect the integrity of cardholder data, we require ALL merchants that store, process, or transmit Cardholder data on the Discover network to comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (“PCI DSS”) at all times. In addition, you may also be required to validate and report compliance directly to us or to your third-party Acquirer.

While the information on the pages that follow is very helpful and important, you should understand that PCI compliance is just the first step towards effective data security. Constant vigilance, in concert with maintaining PCI compliance, is the foundation of a successful strategy for securing a Cardholder data environment.
